Trending Down: The Banana Republic + NADA Tote

Everyone is broke, so why not advertise it? As part of their collaboration with NADA, the New Art Dealer's Alliance, Banana Republic will produce several limited edition tote bags featuring artwork from artists being featured at the NADA Art Fair 2008 Preview Benefit for the New Museum this year in Art Basel Miami from December 3rd through the 7th. Among said totes is one from artist Chris Caccamise of New York's Eleven Rivington. What better way to say something than to, well, just say it: "I Need Money." You and me both, sister.

Besides the plea for cash, we also like the tote with Udo Rondinone's signature "Hell, Yes!" logo -- the same logo that adorns the facade of the New Museum, especially because it would be cute to carry it side by side with a boyfriend to reinforce how broke we are. Because if we have to be poor, we can still be adorable.

The tote bags will be sold at the opening night benefit and throughout the run of the NADA Art Fair. Those good folks at Banana Republic have generously donated all the tote bags and proceeds from the sales will go to NADA and the New Museum to benefit their organizations. In addition to selling these totes at the art fair, the New Museum will be selling three of the artist totes at their gift shop. Hell, yes!

After having penned a recent essay in British GQ about the double-standard against men and nude fashion photography, Tom Ford felt dicked over when the magazine covered the models' members in the accompanying spread he styled with text blocks.  First he designs amazing clothes, then he works hard to show us the goods.  Could he be any dreamier?  [The Cut]

It may not be designer; It may not cost $60 a bottle; and it may just be a little too simple--but the unisex Banana Republic classic fragrance is heavenly, but, with hopes of perfecting perfection, BR will release Classic Limited Edition in limited numbers in stores and online come August.  The improved fragrance promises "more texture and depth as you go from eau de toilette to eau de parfum."  [Style Dash]

Whereas it was sort of fun to get out there and snoop around for coveted pieces from Rogues Gallery, now that most of their collection is available online I find it much more conducive to my lifestyle to just order their amazing polo shirts from my couch.  [Material Interest]

It was hard enough to deal with the influx of American bands with pretentious and often-times erroneous names (Band of Horses, Vampire Weekend, etc.), but now we have to deal with the same trend in American fashion lines.  I blame it on the hipsters.  Nevertheless, newly launched menswear line Conference of Birds (what?) looks to be worth keeping your eye on with pieces described as "a chic sartorial bricolage joining the hard-edged quality of American workwear with the polish of British tailoring...garments also recall rugged hunting pieces as much as they do trim cosmopolitan uniforms."
